Position Information
Cowra High School is a comprehensive school of 470 students, located in the township of Cowra, situated in the Central West of NSW. The school prides itself on the scope of the curriculum delivered to students who come from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds. School priorities include Positive Behaviour for Learning, teacher quality, growth in literacy and numeracy outcomes for students, and improved community engagement. The school has a Support Unit consists of seven classes for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours. The successful applicant to this position would join our TAS Faculty and will be encouraged to become involved in other whole-school Teams and processes designed to maximise educational experiences and outcomes for all students. The required teacher Technology role includes working in an environment focusing on both theoretic and practical components of all Technology and Applied Studies subjects. The successful applicant would also be required to work with students exhibiting a range of behavioural difficulties, requiring specialised strategies to manage their behaviour and support their learning journey.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach ITX Technology Mandatory (Years 7-8), Approval and/or experience teaching ITM Industrial Technology-Metal, ITW Industrial Technology-Timber and experience in teaching these subjects including teaching students with additional needs.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging teaching programs, differentiated to meet the needs of a diverse range of students of varying levels of ability.
- Demonstrated capacity to create a safe and supportive learning environment, including perspectives of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- High level of interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Conditions
Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
