Position Information

Windsor High School is a comprehensive school with around 650 students, located in the Hawkesbury. It's student body includes approximately 20% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 8% from language backgrounds other than English. The school includes a support unit for students with intellectual disabilities.Over the past six years, the school has focused on building strong systems in curriculum, student wellbeing, and teacher professional learning. It promotes a positive learning environment and a culture centred on improving outcomes for students. The school benefits from an active P&C, maintains a strong partnership with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), and continues to strengthen ties with the Aboriginal community.

 

Specific Selection Criteria
• Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex needs, including autism, behaviour disorders, mild to moderate intellectual disability and mental health.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate curriculum and pedagogy to effectively support a range of student learning needs, across a variety of subjects, whilst creating a classroom environment that utilises evidence-based practices.
• Demonstrated ability in interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and inclusively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies and the wider community.
• Knowledge, skills and experience in developing, implementing and monitoring Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Transition Plans to cater for the social, emotional, sensory and communication needs of students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
