Position Information
Westdale Public School is situated within the Peel Network in Tamworth NSW. 380 students are enrolled in 17 classes, including a behaviour support class and 2 multi-categorical support classes. Our community is diverse, with Aboriginal enrolments close to 47% and English as an additional language or dialect enrolments at 6%. In December 2024, our Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) was 142 compared to the state average of 100. Within this community the school enjoys an outstanding reputation, being well known for feeling welcoming and inclusive.
We have invested heavily in student success. Our attractive, spacious, modern facilities, are equipped with educational resources that are amongst the most comprehensive in the region. Students benefit from a large number of support staff, a range of Information and Communication Technologies, literacy and numeracy resources and a wide variety of sporting and recreation equipment.
Our comprehensive student learning and support program ensures all K-6 students have the opportunity to improve their literacy and numeracy. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with complex needs and behaviour difficulties.
Demonstrated ability to create differentiated education programs which promote continuous growth for the social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of students.
Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity, with the ability to proactively engage with students, colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community.
Demonstrated quality classroom practice and highly developed behaviour management skills which enhances student engagement.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
