Position Information
Wentworthville Public School is a growing community and has an enrolment of 855 students, including 96% from a language background other than English, with a high intake of students who have newly arrived to the country. The school caters for students from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities with three Multi-Categorical classes in the support unit. The school community has high expectations for student achievement, where students are challenged through explicit quality teaching and future focused learning programs, where individual learning needs are catered for. Student wellbeing is supported by the whole school PBL program and other wellbeing initiatives. Our school has a strong focus on collaboration and co-teaching in Innovative Learning Environment spaces. The school is supported by an engaged and active P&C Association as well as the broader community. The school values and celebrates its diverse and inclusive community.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disability, challenging behaviours, physical needs, and complex communication requirements.
2. Proven ability to implement wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom culture.
3. Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage proactively and professionally with students, parents/carers, from a culturally diverse range of backgrounds, staff, support agencies and the wider community, as part of a collaborative team to improve student outcomes.
4. Demonstrated ability to design high quality, differentiated programs that cater for the individual academic requirements of students with diverse learning needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
