Position Information
Walters Road Public School is a committed learning community in the Bungarribee network, located in the Blacktown Local Government Area, situated on Darug land. With a current enrolment of 549, approximately 55% of students identify as having a language background other than English and 5% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Dedicated staff emphasise academic skills and hold high expectations for all students. The school has a strong focus on evidence-based approaches to teaching literacy and numeracy, systematic assessment approaches that will ascertain observable changes in learning and wellbeing.
Walters Road Public School currently has 20 mainstream classes, 2 Multi-categorical classes and 1 IO/IS class.We have strong partnerships with Evans High School and foster an environment where all students and their families feel accepted and valued.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience, skills and knowledge to teach students with complex needs, including autism, intellectual disabilities, behaviour disorders, trauma and mental health in a mult-stage K-2 setting.
2. Demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver learning programs in literacy and numeracy catering to a wide variety of needs in a support class setting.
3. Proven ability to work collaboratively with parents and external stakeholders to develop individualised learning goals and personalised learning and support plans.
4. Demonstrated classroom management skills and proven capacity to implement positive behaviour strategies to support student engagement, participation and wellbeing in a support class setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
