Position Information
Tamworth South Public School (TSPS) has 508 wonderful students consisting of 50% Aboriginal students and 15% EAL/D students. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. We have five support classes and an Opportunity Class. They consist of an Early Intervention class, a senior Intellectual Moderate class, a Multicategory class, a Behaviour Class and a Junior Intellectual Moderate class.
We are looking for an exemplary classroom teacher with strong collaborative communication skills, a deep understanding of current best practices in special education and inclusive teaching strategies, an understanding of developmental disabilities, learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges and knowledge of relevant curriculum adaptations and assistive technologies.

Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach Special Education and / or demonstrated successful experience teaching students with complex needs related to intellectual, physical, communication and mental health (including emotional disturbance, behaviour disorder, trauma) disabilities, autism and sensory processing.
2. Develop and implement Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs, adapting curriculum and teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and challenges while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
3. Collaborate effectively with families, therapists, and educational professionals to build strong partnerships and create a holistic support system that promotes positive student growth and outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
