About this job

Position Information

Smithfield West Public School is located in south-western Sydney within the Fairfield local government area. Serving a diverse, vibrant multicultural community, the school has been a central hub for learning and connection for over 60 years. With a current enrolment of 300 students, 88% come from a language background other than English, representing 30 cultural groups. 48% of the student population identifies as being of Middle Eastern background, and 4% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. In 2026, an Autism (AU) class will be established, further enhancing the inclusive educational offerings at the school.

The school is supported by a strong, dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff who collaborate to deliver high-impact teaching and learning programs. The staff profile includes a blend of experienced and early career teachers. Together with students, parents, and carers, a safe and inclusive learning environment is fostered, where every member feels valued.

The school ethos is grounded in the shared values, ‘We Care, We are Safe, We Learn.’ A comprehensive K–6 wellbeing approach is embedded across the school, promoting resilience and a sense of belonging. This foundation supports the students to become successful learners and engaged, happy members of both the school community and the wider society.
