Position Information
Manning Gardens Public School is located in Taree on the NSW mid north coast. We are a P-6 public school with an enrolment of approximately 224 students. 62% of our students identify as having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. 4% of students have non-English speaking backgrounds. Located in a low SES area, we deliver a quality and dynamic curriculum and all students are known, valued and cared for. We are a PBL school and we have a major emphasis on daily student attendance at school. We have six supported learning classes; one early intervention class, three IO/IS classes, one MC class and one IO/AU class. There are approximately 40 students enrolled in our supported learning department at Manning Gardens Public School.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex needs, including autism, behaviour difficulties, moderate/severe intellectual disabilities, social/emotional needs, trauma and mental health in a multi-age setting.
Demonstrated ability to create and modify individual education plans , as well as teaching and learning programs, to maximise student growth, promote high expectations and ensure engagement to meet the diverse needs of students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaboratively and empathetically work as a dynamic member of an experienced faculty team engaging with school learning support officers, parents, carers, teachers, external agencies and the wider community to develop a strong culture in inclusivity.
Capacity to effectively engage with colleagues across supported learning and mainstream faculties to build respectful relationships as well as model and promote inclusivity and the integration of students with a disability and other special needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
