Position Information
Lincoln School is located in Orana Youth Justice Centre in Dubbo and is one of six education and training units located across the state. Lincoln School provides educational services to male detainees aged 10 to 21 located within the Centre.
Our programs are designed to improve our students' education and training standards and their confidence and skills to re-enter education, training, or the workforce. The school caters for up to 42 students, however, averages new enrolments of up to 180 students each year due to the remand and transitional nature of the centre. The school maintains a consistent enrolment pattern of approximately 85% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander enrolments.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, behaviour difficulties and/or emotional disturbances.
- Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to build effective partnerships with students, parents, staff, external agencies, and the school community.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills that support the needs of a diverse range of students, including students with challenging behaviours.
- Ability to design, deliver and evaluate differentiated teaching and learning programs for students.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies and a demonstrated willingness to enhance wellbeing, engagement, and attainment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
