Position Information

Leumeah High School is a large, coeducational, comprehensive school in South-Western Sydney with a school enrolment of 720. Approximately 45% of students possess a language background other than English and an additional 10% identify as First Nations students. 

The school possesses a strong, committed and dedicated staff who have worked hard to improve the quality of teaching with staff reflecting on evidence and current pedagogical changes and research-based practices.

There is a broad academic curriculum, with future focused learning at its core. All students are equipped with iPads to enable them to access the innovative teaching and learning programs. Faculties are driving the implementation of innovative pedagogical processes designed to enhance the capacity of each of our students to function in an ever-changing digital world. 

Student leadership is supported and encouraged through an active SRC and Aboriginal Representative Council. Students are afforded leadership opportunities in the arts, sports and school service.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism Secondary and Emotion Disturbance Secondary. 
  2. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders within the school community. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate individualised teaching and learning plans and programs for students' complex needs. 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
