Position Information
Kearns Public School sits on the lands of the Dharawal People in Southwest Sydney. The school has an enrolment of 152 students, with 7 mainstream classes, 1 support class (AU) and a second support class (AU) opening in 2025.
Students come from a diverse cultural community, 55% of students identify as EAL/D and 5% as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Kearns Public School fosters a strong culture of collaboration in planning, teaching, and assessing Literacy and Numeracy, with a focus on differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students. There is a strong focus on relational pedagogy to ensure our school is a place where all students thrive. The school enjoys a high level of community support and an active P&C.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/ or experience teaching students with Autism and complex learning needs.
2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven capacity to work collaboratively in teams with students, families, staff, allied health services and the wider school community to promote a culture of inclusion.
3. Proven ability to implement effective wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive supportive and culturally inclusive environment, underpinned by an understanding of diverse needs of individual students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
