Position Information
John Palmer Public School is a large, dynamic and student-centred school located in The Ponds, a rapidly growing area in North West Sydney (enrolment 983, including an Early Intervention Class, 2 Multicategorical classes, 67% language backgrounds other than English). The school has strong community links and the educational opportunities for students are focused on developing each individual through the values, Integrity, Excellence and Innovation, embedded as part of the school culture.
The newly completed facilities upgrade at John Palmer PS will incorporate a hub of 4 support classes in 2025, which is currently growing into a dynamic team, focusing on positive inclusive practices.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education/and or experience teaching students with additional learning needs including autism, intellectual disabilities and behavioural difficulties with proven abilities to implement strategies to meet their communication, sensory, social and challenging behavioural needs.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate learning experiences for students with complex learning needs with a strong focus on growth in literacy and numeracy outcomes supported by the implementation of individualised learning programs.
- Evidence of outstanding flexible classroom management skills that demonstrate the implementation of whole school wellbeing programs focused on improving student engagement, creating a positive learning environment and promoting inclusive practices in all school settings.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, carers and key stakeholders to improve student outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
