Position Information

Jerrabomberra Public School (enrolment 860) is situated in the Queanbeyan area. The school is supported by caring, collaborative staff and community. Priorities include positive student welfare practices where every student is known, valued and cared for. Our focus is on providing quality literacy and numeracy programs in line with the new curriculum expectations and with the school and community promoting a high expectation of student achievement.

The school has one multicategorical support class which services the educational needs of seven students from K - 6. In 2025, the greater proportion of students will be in Yrs K-2.

The school's core learning is enriched by a range of music, sporting, creative arts, public speaking and debating programs. The school services a large number of students from Defence families (20%). We have 4% of students who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 22% of students with a Language Background other than English. Our key focus areas for 2024 are improving individual literacy and numeracy growth through the implementation of new syllabuses, explicit teaching practices and student wellbeing and attendance. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex needs such as autism, moderate intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour difficulties.

Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring personalised learning and support plans to meet the learning and wellbeing needs of students to promote growth and engagement.

Capacity to effectively communicate across stakeholders including school staff, parents and carers and external agencies, to build respectful relationships and enhance a culture of inclusivity.

Evidence of implementing strong classroom management strategies and wellbeing programs with a proven ability to develop a positive learning environment that promotes student success.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
