Position Information

Ingleburn High School is a co-educational comprehensive high school in Southwestern Sydney which services the needs and aspirations of a diverse and growing multi-cultural urban population. The school enrolment is currently at 712, including 71 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 45% of the school population being from a Non-English speaking background. The school has a support unit of six classes: one for students with moderate intellectual disabilities (IO), one for students with moderate intellectual disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder (IO/AU), four for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and one multi-categorical class (MC). 

The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices with staff professional learning being the key to ensuring this. This learning will ensure that both literacy and numeracy levels can be enhanced through improved data analysis and use to support student learning.

Specific Selection Criteria

1) Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism spectrum disorder, moderate intellectual disabilities, complex learning and support needs including emotional disturbance and behavioural difficulties (Secondary).

2) Demonstrated capacity to program and differentiate the curriculum and include whole school priorities for students with diverse learning needs.

3) Demonstrated ability and capacity to develop, design and plan for the individual support, transition, behaviour, health, and wellbeing needs of students with disabilities.

4) Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team to build positive relationships and effectively liaise with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
