Position Information

Hunters Hill Public School is located in a high socio-economic area on the lower north shore of Sydney and is well-entrenched in the history of the peninsula on which it sits. The Hunters Hill community are very proud of, and highly value, the historical significance and traditions of the school. The P&C is highly involved in the school and actively promotes and facilitates multiple school-based community events and activities.  We have an enrolment of approximately 230 students. Currently 39.3% of students are recognised as having a language background other than English.  School excellence initiatives focus on evidenced-based best practice, collaborative practice, purposeful data collection and analysis, and evaluation of practice within a culture of high expectations.  The school promotes inclusivity, collaboration and connectedness amongst all students, staff and community members.  In 2026, we will be establishing an Autism Support Class.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse needs including autism and intellectual disability, with a demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and review differentiated Individual Education Plans that foster high expectations and promote student engagement.

 

Proven ability to develop, maintain and review differentiated Behaviour Support Plans and implement highly developed classroom management strategies that are flexible and adaptive to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

 

Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with staff, students, families, and external support teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster a culture of collaboration.

 

Demonstrated commitment to engagement in and contribution to school-wide events and extra-curricular activities.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
