Position Information

Kearns Public School sits on the lands of the Dharawal People in Southwest Sydney. The school has an enrolment of 177 students, with 7 mainstream classes and 2 support AU class. Students come from a diverse cultural community, 55% of students identify as EAL/D and 5% as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.  Kearns Public School fosters a strong culture of collaboration in planning, teaching, and assessing Literacy and Numeracy, with a focus on differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students. There is a strong focus on relational pedagogy to ensure our school is a place where all students thrive. The school enjoys a high level of community support and P&C. 

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, using evidence-based strategies to support complex communication, sensory, social and behavioural needs.

  2. Demonstrated capacity to develop and collaborate in the planning and implementation of PLaSPs, behaviour response plans, tailored risk management plans to support the individualised learning and behvaiour of students.

  3. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively develop, maintain and plan authentic teaching and learning experiences with the proven capacity to use data to deliver and evaluate responsive, high quality, differentiated programs for all students.

  4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills that promote a multidisiplinary approach with staff and positive partnerships with parents, carers, community members, support agencies, and students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
