Position Information
Forbes High School is a rural 7-12 coeducational, comprehensive high school that caters for a diverse demographic of 280 students, which is situated not far from the banks of the Lachlan River. 39% of our students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We have 5 Support classes accessed by over 40 students.
We adopt a holistic approach to student achievement, and students have the opportunity to succeed in sporting, cultural, creative and performing arts. We maintain a broad and rigorous academic curriculum and offer an extensive range of vocational courses. Our students are taught by dynamic, motivated, and committed staff in a technology-rich environment.
We have a Wellness Hub on site that underpins and supports positive student wellbeing. We are active in the community working with many agencies across the community to ensure that student learning is underpinned by strong wellbeing practices.
Strong community partnerships have been formed, and these provide invaluable support to the school across many contexts, including student wellbeing programs, vocational opportunities and shared resources.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with mild intellectual disabilities and Autism.
2. Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and empathetically with teachers, support staff, parents and agencies.
3. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and demonstrated successful classroom management creating a positive learning environment that promotes student success.
4. Demonstrated ability to develop Personalised Learning and Support Plans to maximise student growth, promote high expectations and ensure engagement to meet the diverse needs of students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Conditions
Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
