Position Information
Fairvale Public School is located in South Western Sydney and is one of four public schools serving the inner area of Fairfield City. The school’s current enrolment is 502 students, with 90% of students coming from a language background other than English and approximately 20% being newly arrived refugees. The current FOEI is 171.
The school is supported by a strong, dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff who collaborate to deliver high-impact teaching and learning programs. The staff comprises both experienced and early career teachers. The school ethos is grounded in the FAIR Core Capabilities—Friendly, Into Learning, Responsible, Always Safe—which are embedded across the school.
An Inclusive Learning Hub is currently being established and will commence at the beginning of the 2026 school year. The Inclusive Learning Hub will include one Autism (Au) class. The school is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and high-quality teaching and learning environment to ensure all students are supported to achieve success.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approve to teach special education and/or experience/willingness to teach students with a variety of disabilities including autism, sensory impairments, communication need and behaviour difficulties.
2. Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of collaborative team and build positive relationships with all students, staff, parents, external agencies, and members of the wider community.
3. Ability to develop and deliver differentiated learning experiences to students with complex learning needs, with a focus on improving student outcomes.
4. Evidence of strong classroom management strategies and wellbeing programs, which enhance student engagement and development of social skills.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
