Position Information
Corowa High School (enrolment 318 students, including 2% Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school that services a small and diverse rural community. The school offers a broad academic and vocational curriculum which is supported by a Trade Centre (metals and engineering) and a Trade Training Centre (hospitality). In 2020 the school introduced 'Tongarla', a multi-categorical support class which provides additional educational supports and access for students with complex needs enrolled in our school. 'Tongarla' has been a welcome addition to our school and since 2020 three additional support classes have been added ('Dinawan', 'Mikki' and 'Numgara') to meet this growing need within our school and community. Corowa High School is committed to improving the support and educational opportunities it proves to all students, and to building a positive school environment that fosters partnerships with parents and the wider community.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education an/or experience teaching students with autism, mild intellect disability and emotional disturbance.
2. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver quality teaching practices and differentiated programs that respond to the requirements of students with complex learning needs.
3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and build positive relationships with all students, parents and members of the wider community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
