Position Information
Coonabarabran High School is a comprehensive high school which includes a Support Unit with five classes, situate in North West New South Wales. It has an enrollment of 305 students. Approximately 27% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. The school enjoys a long and proud tradition of excellent student outcomes in academic, sporting and cultural fields of endeavour. The school provides students with diverse and rich educational opportunities; both within and beyond the classroom. The students are positively encouraged and guided to extend themselves in a variety of fields, embracing the school motto 'Forever Dare'.

Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with, moderate/mild intellectual difficulties, and complex additional learning and support needs
The ability to build positive relationships and engage with all members of the school community, including the capacity to communicate with parents and staff to support students with diverse disabilities and learning needs.
Classroom management skills and wellbeing practices with the capacity to cater for a diverse range of students in managing the complex dynamics of a support classroom
Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum to promote engagement, learning and independence, to meet the learning and wellbeing needs, goals and interests of students with a disability
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
