Position Information

Chipping Norton Public School is located on Darug Land in the beautiful area of the Chipping Norton Lakes and is surrounded by parklands and the Georges River. Chipping Norton PS is a dynamic school that provides an outstanding education for all students. Learning opportunities are challenging, personalised and facilitated by expert educators. We promote excellence and engage learners through innovative experiences to prepare them as future global citizens. Our school population is currently 331 students, including 64% from a language background other than English with 19 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled. In 2023, three Autism support classes were established at the school. Mirrung (a Darug word meaning 'belonging'), our support unit, currently has 17 students enrolled. Opportunities for student leadership are fostered from Kindergarten to Year 6. Other key programs include, Student Representative Council, Public Speaking, Dance, Choir and Sport. Technology is used extensively by our students and teachers to interact, engage and challenge learning. Chipping Norton Public School is proud of the open and collaborative relationship with parents, carers and members of the wider community. By building strong and purposeful partnerships, we inspire, guide and build a love of learning in every child we teach. Chipping Norton PS is a member of the Moorebank Community of Schools, along with Nuwarra PS, Newbridge Heights PS, Moorebank HS and the Georges River Environmental Education Centre. We have a strong P&C community with over 20 members actively involved.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism and mild/moderate intellectual disabilities.

2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor quality personalised learning and support plans and proven capacity to develop differentiated and innovative learning programs utilising knowledge of curriculum, assessment and the Disability Standards for Education. 

3. Evidence of high-level interpersonal skills and capacity to effectively communicate across all stakeholders within the school context including parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community, to build and enhance a culture of inclusivity. 

4. Proven capacity to create an inclusive, engaging and positive learning environment through the implementation of effective classroom management. 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
