Position Information

Chalmers Road School is a School for Specific Purposes (SSP) located in Strathfield that provides educational programs for students K to 12 with high and moderate support needs, including intellectual and physical disabilities, autism, and complex health needs. There are 12 classes with a total enrolment of 79 students. Our school has 86% of the students coming from a non-English speaking background. All students at Chalmers Road School have a Personalised Learning and Support Plan developed in consultation with families and carers. The school embeds Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, autism and behavioural needs.
  2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, students and parents/carers
  3. Demonstrated experience and skills in using a wide range of current technology to support a diverse range of learners.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to differentiate personalised teaching and learning programs to engage for students with disabilities, focusing on improvement in literacy, numeracy.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
