Position Information
Braddock Public School has a current enrolment of 305 students, including 30% who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 9% from a language background other than English. The school has four support classes – an autism class and three multi-categorical classes. The school has a FOEI of 159.
Inclusivity and equity are of paramount importance at Braddock Public School and we pride ourselves on knowing all students and ensuring their individual academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs are met. A culture of 'every student is everyone's responsibility' is highly valued by staff and the community. Curriculum delivery at Braddock Public School is supported by 1.4 FTE Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction allocation. Learning and wellbeing is supported by a 1.7 FTE Learning and Support Teacher allocation. The school has a mix of both early career teachers to more experienced staff.
Equity funding employs two ACIP Deputy Principals, additional classroom teachers, Aboriginal Education Officer, Community Liaison Officer and School Learning Support Officers to ensure the academic and wellbeing needs of all students are met. A wellbeing Hub opened in 2024 and is led by one of the ACIP Deputy Principals. The Hub utilises the principles of Place Based Learning to holistically support student Readiness for Learning and increase protective factors to support the broader needs of the community.
Aboriginal programs and perspectives are embedded throughout the school, led by a highly dedicated Aboriginal Education Team. Positive Behaviour for Learning, Trauma Informed Practices and a high functioning Learning and Support Team drive wellbeing practices. Staff are highly collaborative and supportive. Clear and consistent communication between school and home is a valued priority.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach inclusive education and/or experience teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disability and/or autism, including understanding current curriculum requirements and best practices for teaching students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to develop and deliver differentiated learning experiences incorporating explicit teaching practices with a focus on improving student outcomes.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build respectful and professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and caregivers to foster a supportive and positive learning environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
