Position Information

At Bowral High School we are committed to building positive relationships with students, parents and staff that support students to feel connected to the school and learn. Our student population, totalling 600, encompasses 54 Aboriginal students and a growing number of students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

We want our students to have a sense of belonging at the school, to feel valued and supported and to have respectful relationships with their teachers and each other. Positive relationships underpin engagement, along with strong pedagogy and personalised learning.

Bowral High School has strong links to its community and its partner primary schools. A rich and challenging academic program exists side by side with opportunities in vocational education that offer students individual pathways to work, university, and TAFE or private colleges.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism (secondary), Mild Intellectual Disability (secondary) and Emotional Disturbance (secondary).

Ability to deliver high quality, differentiated teaching and learning for a diverse range of students with a disability.

High level communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents / carers and external stakeholders.

Capacity to develop, monitor and review ILSP's (Individual Learning Support Plans), PLP's (Personalised Learning Plans, Risk Assessments, Access Requests and Behaviour Management Plans to track student progress and improvement.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
