About this job

Position Information

Berkeley West Public School is a vibrant and inclusive school located on Dharawal Country, on the northern edge of Lake Illawarra, with an enrolment of approximately 160 students. The school has a diverse student population, including students with a language background other than English and a significant number of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. Our community is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based learning experiences that support the academic, social and emotional growth of every student.

From the beginning of the 2026 school year, Berkeley West Public School will establish its first multi-categorical support class. This class will provide a specialised, structured learning environment with personalised support for students with complex needs. The successful applicant will play a foundational role in establishing high-quality teaching, wellbeing and inclusion practices that reflect departmental policies and contemporary best practice in special education.

The teacher appointed to this position will work collaboratively with families, School Learning Support Officers and external agencies to design meaningful learning experiences that maximise student engagement, independence and growth. A strong commitment to inclusive practice, high expectations and evidence-based teaching is essential.

Further information about the school can be found on the school website.
