Position Information

Barramurra Public School is a newly established primary school, opening at the commencement of 2021, located in the suburb of Oran Park in South Western Sydney. The school has a current enrolment of 1056 students and includes four support unit classes catering for students with a moderate intellectual disability and autism. Barramurra Public School serves a rapidly growing multicultural community with 59% of our students having a language background other than English. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The school has a strong focus on quality teaching including literacy, numeracy and engagement of students through information technologies. A committed staff work in collaborative teams to design, implement and deliver effective programs to improve student outcomes through setting high expectations and differentiating the curriculum.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities (moderate) and supporting complex learning needs including communication, wellbeing and challenging behaviour.

Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and design, implement and monitor individualised learning and support programs to meet the learning and wellbeing needs, goals and interests of students and the ability to promote inclusion.

Demonstrated skills and experience in using a range of classroom management and wellbeing approaches to cater for the communication, sensory, social and emotional needs of students.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven capacity to work collaboratively in teams and contribute to a positive school culture with students, families, staff and the wider school community.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
