Position Information
Located on the Far North Coast of NSW Ballina Coast High School has an enrolment of approximately 760 students. As a high expectation learning community, BCHS is committed to our values of empathy, kindness, self-regulation, collaboration and communication in an environment of high expectations. We are in the second year of embedding restorative practice. The school offers a range of innovative and exceptional learning pathways including Talented Arts Program, Targeted Sports Program, Big Picture Learning Academy, Flex, Middle School and vocational education. Our Support Unit has expanded to eight classes, staffed by a dedicated team that collaborates to provide innovative and flexible learning opportunities, tailored to a diverse range of learners. BCHS is recognised for quality programs and partnerships supporting Aboriginal Education. In its seventh year of operation the school boasts exceptional learning environments, including a large Marine education facility, flexible classrooms, sporting facilities, and performing arts space. The school maintains strong partnerships with community organisations, local industry, sporting organisations and universities.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex needs including autism, emotional disturbance, physical disability and behaviour difficulties.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver differentiated, innovative teaching programs that support students with a range of learning needs.
3. Demonstrated ability to use effective classroom management skills to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
4. Well developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and build positive relationships with staff, students, parents/carers, community as well as external agencies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
