Position Information

Chifley College Dunheved Campus is part of a multi-campus secondary college located in the Mount Druitt area of the Metropolitan North Operational Directorate. Dunheved Campus is one of the three Year 7-10 campuses within the five school collegiate. The school has a current enrolment of 584 students including a support unit of eight classes; one IM, one MH and six MC classes. These classes cater for students with a range of disabilities including mild to moderate disabilities, autism and mental health. The student body has approximately 30% students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 30% students from backgrounds where English is an additional language or dialect, predominantly Pacific Islander.

There is a school wide commitment to data driven literacy and numeracy strategies which are designed to meet the needs of every student and build teacher capacity. The school has established strong wellbeing programs to connect, succeed and thrive. An enthusiastic and committed staff provide a supportive learning environment focusing on pathways for students through school and beyond.

The school maintains strong links with partner primary schools and the college's senior campus, strengthened by a dedicated transition program for students. Supportive college and community links are evident within the KLA networks, active Parents and Citizens' Association, the local Aboriginal Consultative Group, local Aboriginal elders and the Clontarf Foundation.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach special education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with autism, moderate intellectual disability, challenging behaviours and mental health with knowledge of trauma and informed practice.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and the capacity to effectively communicate across all stakeholders within the school context, including students, parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community, to build and enhance a culture of inclusivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to plan and effectively implement research-based individual learning, behaviour and risk assessment plans with all stakeholders to support the behavioural, social, sensory and wellbeing needs of students.
  • Capacity and commitment to work in partnership with Aboriginal students and parents, and students from low socio-economic backgrounds and to ensure quality outcomes for all.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.

 

Chifley College Dunheved Campus is a 4 transfer point (TP) school. More information on transfer points is available on the Transfer system webpage. 

 

The successful applicant will be appointed to Chifley College and initially based at the Dunheved Campus.
