Position Information

Hunters Hill High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school located beside Sydney harbour in a bushland setting overlooking the Lane Cove River. The school has 800 students with a number of international students in Years 10 to 12. Its culture is characterised by a strong sense of community, a commitment to high academic and personal standards, active parental involvement, a rich history, and a focus on developing well-rounded, socially conscious, and capable individual.

Over the next three years the school has a strong focus on developing a shared pedagogy that utilises Transformative Learning and the ALARM philosophy and process. The link between critical thinking and literacy is crucial in achieving the schools long term goals for student growth and achievement. The school has a comprehensive Professional Learning program underway to support this.

The school has a well-developed Learning Support model and an extremely active Welfare team as well as an innovative and extensive Sailing Program in conjunction with Hunters Hill Yacht Club that supports resilience and leadership programs. The school is currently getting major modification to allow it to support students with physical disabilities.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Stage 4 and 5 Science, Stage 6 Biology and Stage 6 Earth and Environmental Science

Demonstrated capacity to develop, deliver and evaluate differentiated, evidence-based teaching and learning programs that engage high order thinking and are engaging for students of all abilities.

Deep curriculum knowledge with demonstrated commitment to improving academic achievement through formative assessment, effective feedback and evaluative practice.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff and parents to improve student learning outcomes.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
