Position Information

Brewarrina is a friendly town of 1100 people nestled on the Barwon River in upper North West NSW on Ngemba Country. With a current enrolment of 130 students Kindergarten to year 12, 99% of students are Aboriginal. 

Our school community is invested in every student being known, valued and cared for. Staff work with community to deliver Culture and Language, Personalised Learning and Pathway plans for all students. The "Guiding Principles of Leading Aboriginal Education" support continued strengthening of school/community partnerships supported by the Connected Communities Strategy, SRG (School Reference Group) and AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group). Working strategically to address considerable geographical isolation and low socioeconomic disadvantage, our school with a FOEI of 207 strategically delivers tier 1,2 and 3 programs to address Closing the Gap targets.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Science (years 7-12) and approval and/or willingness to teach Mathematics (years 7-10)

2. Capacity to deliver a variety of contextually relevant learning experiences that will result in student engagement and growth in science.

3. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with students, staff and parents to support student learning and wellbeing.

4. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education policies, Including the Connected Community Strategy.

 

Conditions

Successful applicants may be entitled to a relocation support payment of $5,000 to $8,000 for eligible applicants.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
