Position Information

Blacktown Boys High School is a partially selective all-boys high school with an enrolment of 903 students including 22.8% students from a non-English speaking background and 1.8% Aboriginal students. The student body includes an academically selective cohort in each year group, gifted and talented classes, mainstream classes and an Inclusive Education Unit. The school caters for the educational and wellbeing needs of boys, attracting students from a wide drawing area, who are seeking a single-sex education. It has a strong focus on achieving academic and creative excellence, and developing resilient, self-confident young men who can collaborate and communicate effectively, as they develop skills to be lifelong learners. It has a focus on HSC attainment, Literacy and Numeracy, student wellbeing and collaborative teaching. Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach Physics and 7-10 Science.

  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and empathetically with students, staff and parents.

  • Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and contribute to differentiated teaching and learning programs that support and maximise student learning and promote high expectations for all students.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement curriculum to drive improved student learning outcomes.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
