Position Information

The Hills Sports High School (THSHS) is a comprehensive coeducational Years 7-12 school with an elite sporting stream and a total enrolment of approximately 950 students, 7% from Aboriginal background and 20% require some level of EALD (English as an additional dialect) support. The school, located in Sydney's North Western Area at Seven Hills, caters for both local students and those enrolled in the Talented Sports Program (TSP). It is committed to a learning culture that values academic and sporting excellence. A support unit caters for a total of 56 students. Extensive partnerships exist with community organisations and associations. The Hills Sports High School is one of eight specialist high schools in NSW. A highly competitive application process for talented sports students is used to select potential students to the school as demand for limited positions is high. The school was officially recognised by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) as an Olympic Pathway School in 2023. The school also has active partnerships with the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and Western Sydney Academy of Sport (WSAS).

Specific Selection Criteria
​1. Approval to teach PDHPE, Dance, Community and Family Studies (CAFS) and Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) with a comprehensive knowledge of the PDHPE and Dance curriculum and assessment across all Stages.
2. Demonstrated ability to deliver inclusive, high-quality PDHPE and Dance programs that engage diverse learners and extend high potential and gifted students.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the initiative to drive a growing program that promotes student success, opportunity and wellbeing.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
