Position Information

Windsor High School is a comprehensive high school of 642 students, located in the Hawkesbury. Students draw from Wiseman's Ferry in the north to Bligh Park in the south. Enrolment is comprised of about 21% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students and 12% English as an ALD students. Strong links with our local community strengthen the opportunities provided to our students.

 

The school has a Support Unit, with five classes that cater for a wide range of abilities. The school caters for the academic and cultural needs of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through Personalised Learning Pathways and culturally rich programs throughout Years 7 to 12.

 

Highly effective programs, systems and structures are established in the areas of student wellbeing, school organisation, assessment and curriculum. Focused literacy and numeracy programs are proving successful and continue to be our focus.

 

Nurturing high expectations is a focus across the school, including a specialised High Potential and Gifted Education program to ensure academic excellence and engaging extracurricular opportunities. Attendance and engagement drive student achievement in all areas through participation in learning.

 

The school is well supported by an engaged and active Parents and Citizen Association. There is a strong partnership with the local AECG and ties to the local Aboriginal community are continuing to develop.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

 

Evidence of effective practice that creates a culture of high expectations and accommodates for students with a wide range of learning needs.

 

Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative faculty member who contributes to programming, assessment and resource development and supports whole school initiatives.

 

Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the capacity to work with other members of a dynamic PDHPE faculty and to contribute to sport and extra-curricular activities.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
