Position Information

Ku-ring-gal High School is a comprehensive, co-educational high school of 550 students with a multi-categorical support unit of 3 classes. It is situated in a stimulating natural environment adjacent to the Ku-ring­ gai Chase National Park. The school specialises in the provision of high-quality learning experiences with a focus on academic excellence, comprehensive curriculum delivery, learning engagement and creativity.

The Ku-ring-gai CAPA faculty has an important role within the school with many students choosing the creative and performing arts as electives in Stage 5 & Stage 6.    

The majority of the school's equity funding will be used to support initiatives developed in the 2024-2027 Strategic Improvement Plan including a Literacy and Numeracy Learning Hub, individual learning adjustments and support for identified students, and co-ordinated wellbeing initiatives. 

The focus on personal and academic success for all students will be ongoing and will include ongoing staff professional learning around deeper data analysis and student-based goal setting to assist students in their learning, appropriate subject choice and future pathway choices.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Music and Music Extensions 1 & 2. 

  2. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an innovative CAPA faculty to deliver high quality learning practices and student performances. 

  3. Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and contribute to differentiated teaching and learning programs to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students. 

  4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated capacity to build relationships with students, staff and community, and work as part of a collaborative team.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
