Position Information

Canley Vale High School is a proud aspirational comprehensive high school that caters for the academic, social and emotional needs of approximately 1600 students, where 96% of the students are from a language background other than English. The school's average FOEI is 143, which enables equity funds to strengthen learning, teaching, leadership, wellbeing initiatives and provide meaningful post-school pathways. Canley Vale High School serves a culturally and linguistically diverse community that fosters a high expectation learning culture for all students to finish school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway as informed, engaged and responsible citizens. It includes a Special Education unit with five designated classes for neurodivergent learners. Canley Vale High School has a highly motivated and engaged staff to support a broad inclusive and innovative curriculum with strong co-curricular activities, relevant VET pathways, accelerated Mathematics program, targeted EAL/D and Literacy classes and a High Potential and Gifted Education program. Teachers implement evidence-informed practices to support quality teaching and whole school explicit literacy and numeracy strategies. Canley Vale High School values partnerships in learning with its parents, network of schools, universities, external agencies and community organisations to provide opportunities and experiences for all students to receive a high-quality education that enables them to excel in and beyond the classroom.

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Music (7-12). 

     

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to faculty planning, extra-curricular activities, and develop and sustain positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community. 

     

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging, differentiated teaching programs for a diverse range of learners.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
