Position Information
Narara Valley High School is a comprehensive high school situated on Darkinjung land on the Central Coast of NSW with an enrolment of approximately 660 students, including 90 Aboriginal students. Our Support Unit is an integral part of our school community and is comprised of 8 classes. The school welcomes students of all ability levels and has developed a reputation for its strong focus on academic achievement, wellbeing and supporting community aspirations and needs.
Narara Valley High School runs specialist programs in Creative and Performing Arts, High Performance and Gifted Education through our well established STEP program and Targeted Sport, as well as range of extra curricular activities. In addition to this, the school has a Young Parents Program and an extensive wellbeing and learning and support team. We have highly valued partnerships with the Cooinda AECG, the Valley Schools Local Management Group and other community organisations which further support our educational, wellbeing and transition programs. The PBL values of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best are embedded in all aspects of school life.
Strategic priorities for Narara Valley High School include literacy, numeracy, Stage 6 attainment, high rates of student attendance and engagement, explicit teaching, and learning partnerships.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Mathematics Years 7-10 and Mathematics Years 11-12. Willingness to teach Mathematics Extensions 1&2.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative, evidence based teaching and learning experiences in Mathematics that engage the full range of students and promote high expectations.
- Ability to differentiate the Mathematics curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students, including students from low socio economic and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as high potential students.
- Highly developed team work and interpersonal skills with the ability to form positive and productive relationships with all stakeholders across the school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
