Position Information
Melville High School is located on Dunghutti land in the Macleay Valley serving approximately 600 students from South West Rocks to Crescent Head with a student Aboriginal population of over 30%.
It is a comprehensive, co-educational school, with a strong focus on student growth and achievement, quality teaching, restorative practices and wellbeing.
Opportunities are provided in academic, sporting, cultural, creative and technological learning areas and programs to develop social and employment skills are a focus.
In 2021 Melville High School joined the Connected Communities Strategy which aims to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students and therefore all students.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach mathematics Years 7-12
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality teaching and learning programs that are differentiated for the specific learning needs of students.
- Excellent classroom management and student wellbeing practices that promote and build positive relationships and nurture student growth.
- Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural, wellbeing and educational needs of students from low-socio-economic communities and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated capacity to build relationships with students, staff and community, and work as part of a collaborative team.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (conditions apply).
