Position Information
Finley High School is a comprehensive rural school that serves the educational needs of students from Finley, Tocumwal, Jerilderie, Berrigan, and the surrounding districts. It is located on the land of the Yorta Yorta people.
The school currently has a student population of 310, with 11% identifying as having an Aboriginal background. These students are supported by a dedicated Aboriginal coordinator. Finley High School consistently achieves strong academic results in external assessments, including NAPLAN and the HSC. Post-school pathways have been highly successful, with many students gaining entry into tertiary institutions or securing employment.
The school offers a renowned Agriculture program, widely recognized across Victoria and southern NSW. Sport is also a key strength, with students and teams achieving success at regional and state levels. Our creative and performing arts programs continue to thrive, culminating in the annual MADDD Night, which showcases individual and group performances.
Student leadership is a growing focus, with an active Student Representative Council driving initiatives that enhance student engagement. Wellbeing is a priority, supported by a Head Teacher Wellbeing and a Student Support Officer who implement a range of programs to foster student development. The school also provides four Inclusion classes, with students integrated into mainstream learning alongside support from special education teachers and SLSOs.
Finley High School benefits from a committed Parents and Citizens’ Association, which plays a vital role in fundraising efforts through the canteen, uniform shop, and various initiatives to support the school community.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Mathematics 7-10, Mathematics 11-12 and Maths extensions 1 & 2.
Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement innovative classroom strategies, differentiation and assessment to engage and improve student outcomes for all students.
Proven ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
Capacity to work collaboratively within the faculty to implement whole school initiatives, including numeracy, which support the school’s strategic directions
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
