Position Information

Chifley College Dunheved Campus is part of a multi-campus, secondary college located in the Mount Druitt area of the Metropolitan North Operational Directorate. Dunheved Campus is one of three Year 7-10 campuses within this five-school collegiate. The school has a current enrolment of 600 students including a seven-class support unit (one IM class, one ED class and five MC classes). These classes cater for students with a range of disabilities including: mild to moderate disabilities and autism. Included within the student body, is approximately 30% of students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and a further 30% of students from backgrounds where English is an Additional Language or Dialect, predominantly Pacific Islander.

There is school wide commitment to data driven literacy and numeracy strategies which are designed to meet the needs of every student and build teacher capacity. The school has established strong wellbeing programs for students to connect, succeed and thrive. An enthusiastic and committed staff provide a supportive learning environment focusing on pathways for students to, through and beyond school.

The school maintains strong links with partner primary schools and the College Senior Campus, strengthened by a dedicated transition program for students in the support classes. Supportive college and community links are evident within the KLA networks, active Parents and Citizens’ Association, the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, local Aboriginal Elders and the Clontarf Foundation.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Mathematics (Year 7-12)
  2. Demonstrated ability to create, differentiate and deliver engaging teaching programs that integrate technology, literacy and numeracy into daily teaching practice.
  3. Evidence of effective classroom management to promote a supportive and positive learning environment.
  4. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
