Position Information
Barham High School is a rural and remote school on the lovely banks of the Murray River. The school has just been awarded an Excellence Awardee for The Australian Educator Best Regional School for 2024.
Barham High School is seeking to continue to build on its success with the HSC and NAPLAN results, as well as continue to make BHS a destination school for students and staff alike. Staff productively work together and it is an amazing place to work, live and continue to learn.
The Mathematics teacher position will work within the Mathematics faculty to support the delivery of the Mathematics courses. The school regularly runs both Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 courses, with teachers rotating and sharing the opportunity to deliver all the mathematics courses.
Barham High School is host to 166 students in 2024 who come from a number of feeder schools both in New South Wales and Victoria who have a diverse range of interests and abilities. The school has a dedicated staff that has a diverse cross–section of beginning and highly experienced teachers. Barham High School has a Multi-Categorical Support Class to assist students in accessing the curriculum and is well resourced with over 350 devices to support student learning, recently refurbished science laboratories and timber/metal workshop.
Barham High School is a 6-point incentive school which may attract incentives such as the $20,000 Rural Teacher Incentive, which includes a 70% teacher housing rental subsidy, $10,000 Experienced Teacher Benefit, $10,000 Stamp Duty Relief, and up to $8,000 relocation allowance is available.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Mathematics 7-12 and Extension 1 and 2.
- Demonstrated engagement with the new mathematics curriculum.
- Ability to differentiate teaching practices to promote engagement and improve student numeracy skills for a diverse range of learners.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lesson plans, provides timely and constructive feedback to students that is specific, actionable, and promotes growth in mathematics.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply).
A Relocation support payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 may be available for eligible applicants.
