Position Information

Strathfield South High School is an inclusive, comprehensive Public High School with a Support Unit of 12 classes, 8 Autism, 4 Hearing impairment, located in Sydney's inner west. The School  enrolments are approximately 576 students. The school is culturally and linguistically diverse, with 80% of students coming from a non-English speaking background. We celebrate and champion diversity and work collaboratively with our community to ensure all students develop a deep understanding and empathy for the cultural backgrounds of themselves and others.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach secondary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education and demonstrated classroom management skills to effective support the learning of a diverse student body.
  2. High level technology skills with the capacity to develop and maintain a modern, innovative library that supports and inspires teaching and learning across the entire school.
  3. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and capacity to collaborate with colleagues to create teaching and learning experiences that promote collaboration, critical and creative thinking and digital literacy.
  4. Highly developed organisational skills including the capacity to promote and a manage the Premier’s Reading Challenge and co-ordinate external testing schoolwide. 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Library qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months
