Position Information

Picton High School (1300 students including 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students) is a comprehensive secondary school in the Wollondilly Shire. We are located outside of Southern Sydney and have a regional outlook. Our school was rebuilt in 2022, with innovative learning spaces and specialist facilities. Students are offered a diverse curriculum including targeted literacy and numeracy programs in Stage 4 and extensive vocational education opportunities in stages 5 and 6. The school has seven feeder primary schools, approximately 100 teachers and support staff and eleven support classes. Our school prioritises wellbeing, literacy and numeracy and future-focused and innovative teaching practices to engage students. Our library, located centrally within the school, contains a range of digital and physical resources and is utilised by students as both an educational and social hub. 

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education

 2.Capacity to innovatively manage a contemporary library learning environment encompassing the physical space, digital resources and software management systems. 

 3.Capacity to engage and support teachers and students from diverse backgrounds, in delivering effective teaching and learning, including developing student literacy, numeracy, research skills and critical thinking. 

4.Capacity to manage and create resources and technologies to support evidence based future focused pedagogies and to deliver whole school professional learning in system and school identified priority areas.

 

 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

 

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Library qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months
