Position Information
Menai High School is a comprehensive, co-educational high school located in Illawong, Sutherland Shire on the southern outskirts of Sydney region with an enrolment of 1,080 students in 2024. The student population is comprised of approximately35% LBOTE, 13% EALD and 1.5% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Menai High School offers an extensive curriculum with a focus on academic excellence, student welfare and extra-curricular programs. Areas of focus for the school plan are the explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy across the school, differentiation and strengthening collaborative partnerships with the parent community. Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Secondary Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Capability to provide an innovative approach to promoting and managing a library that functions as a learning hub for the school, supporting teaching, learning and wellbeing across the school.
- Potential to contribute to whole school programs to develop a culture of reading, literacy, digital literacy, research skills and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and the wider school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
