Position Information

Rainbow Street Public School, enrolment 477 students, including 55% from a language background other than ­English, comprises 19 regular classes and four support classes catering for students with moderate intellectual disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities and autism. The physical learning environment underwent a major capital works program to serve the growing needs of the community, purpose built to provide future focused teaching and learning spaces. A new library was a key component of the development. The learning environment is designed to support modern and flexible learning models with collaborative learning spaces, spacious grounds and a blend of indoor and outdoor learning environments, providing students with a multitude of learning opportunities. The staff are a mix of experienced and early career teachers. Parents value the diverse culture of the school and are active and committed members of the school community working closely with staff for the maximum benefit of students. There is an emphasis on data driven and visible learning practices, a broad curriculum and the authentic use of information and communication technologies.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

Demonstrated ability to engage all students through innovative teaching and learning experiences, promoting critical and creative thinking, digital literacy and a love of literature.

Proven ability to contribute to the collaborative design and implementation of explicit teaching and learning experiences across Key Learning Areas.

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a school library using the Oliver Library Management System, including budget and resource management.

Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills to authentically build positive and effective relationships with the whole school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Library qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
