About this job

Position Information

Plumpton Public School is located in western Sydney and has an enrolment of 516 students. Students come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The school's enrolment includes an 8% Aboriginal student cohort and 72% of students from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background.

There are twenty mainstream and seven inclusive education classes. Staff bring a range of experience, from early career through to highly experienced teachers. Teachers are committed to explicit, high-quality teaching, with a focus on developing strong foundations in literacy and numeracy.

The school works in partnership with parents and the community to strengthen attendance and engagement, and to support students' sense of belonging and connection to school.

Inclusive Education is an integral part of our school, and we believe all students should have equitable access to the learning, resources and experiences offered across the school. The Teacher Librarian works with students and teachers across both mainstream and Inclusive Education classes, adapting programs, resources and learning experiences to support students with diverse learning and communication needs.

We are seeking a Teacher Librarian who embraces inclusion as a shared responsibility, builds positive relationships with all students and works collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure the library is a welcoming, accessible and engaging learning environment for every student.

Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach K-6 and approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

Proven communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills to work collaboratively and build authentic relationships across the school community by implementing whole-school events and programs aligned with the teacher librarian role.

Knowledge and understanding of culturally sensitive and inclusive teaching practices that foster student engagement and support successful learning outcomes for all students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students from diverse cultural backgrounds, and students from the Inclusive Education unit.
