Position Information
Wattawa Heights Public School is situated on Dharug Land, located in Bankstown. It is a small school (180) that provides a learning environment for children to take learning risks. The school includes 8 mainstream classes and a Support Unit for students with Autism (2 x AU and 1 x Au/IO classes). We value the importance of the culture of classroom, school and communities to foster stronger relationships, facilitate learning, celebrate diversity and deepen social understanding.
Wattawa Heights Public School is a proud multicultural community, with 94% of students with a language background of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). Students engage in Arabic Community Language program across the school. The school has engaged in PAX Good Behaviour Game training to support the development of classroom conditions that enhance learner dispositions.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with a strong understanding of the role of the teacher librarian in supporting teaching and learning across K-6.
- Well-developed skills in managing student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing, with a proven capacity to support students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities and special needs.
- Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality, curriculum-aligned learning experiences that authentically integrate digital technologies to enhance learning across Key Learning Areas and promote a love of reading.
- Highly developed communication, collaboration and organisational skills, with the capacity to build positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community and contribute to whole-school initiatives, programs and events that support student learning and engagement.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
This is a permanent part-time position of 3 days per week, 0.6FTE (full time equivalent).
