About the role -
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated Teacher Librarian to join our school community. This is a fixed term, full time position within a collaborative team of educators working in our vibrant and busy Library.


As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, you will:
  • Prepare and deliver effective information literacy lessons in accordance with the BCE syllabus requirements
  • Design lessons in a way that excites students and instils a deep appreciation of literature and reading 
  • Plan collaboratively to support classroom teachers
  • Promote the library as a community hub
  • Organise library-based events
  • Foster the spirit of inquiry in an environment supportive of a diversity of learners and learning styles
  • Effectively manage the library and information resources and services for the school community.
  • Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centered, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About you -
To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Commitment to child safety
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement
  • Act as the point of contact for external IT partners and support for basic device management activities in Workspace One
  • Partner with school leadership to develop a whole school approach to technology adoption, particularly to support classroom teaching
  • Provide support for teachers and students in core ICT skills associated with supported solutions, for eg, MS365 suite and Apple IOS. Applicants are required to address these points in the “letter of application” section of the online application form

At BCE our teachers are required to:
  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
  • Have a commitment to Safeguarding

If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.
We support all teachers with Accreditation to Teach pathways after you start with us.
