Position Information
Grafton High School is a large comprehensive secondary school of almost 800 students, located on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung people on the North Coast of NSW. The school contains a support unit with 7 classes and is partially selective, with a selective class in Years 7 to 10. The school is the oldest public high school on the North Coast and has a long-standing reputation for academic, cultural and sporting achievement. 18% of students identify as having an Aboriginal background and students participate in a wide range of cultural recognition and learning experiences focusing on local Bundjalung culture, language and dance. The school has forged strong community and industry links through a number of initiatives, and has a small but highly active P&C.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Secondary Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education. (Refer special notes below).
- Ability to plan and deliver innovative lessons to full classes and small groups to support students in learning across the curriculum whilst managing the role of Teacher Librarian.
- Capacity to implement a creative and flexible approach to managing a library that functions as a learning hub to support literacy, numeracy, HPGE, critical thinking and the learning needs of Stage 6 students.
- Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and the wider school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
