Position Information
Bankstown North Public School has an enrolment of approximately 380 students. The school values and celebrates a diverse student population with 92% of students from non-English speaking backgrounds represented by 39 languages and one Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student. There is a Special Education Unit with 4 classes that cater for students with autism and moderate intellectual disabilities. The school is committed to providing high impact professional learning informed by evidence based research to support the professional growth of all teaching staff. We apply the principles of the Science of Reading in our pedagogical approach using an instructional model underpinned by explicit instruction. Our staff members are enthusiastic and share a strong commitment to providing quality, evidence-informed teaching programs for all students. There is a mix of experienced and early career teachers who work collaboratively to plan and evaluate student progress. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is embedded across K-6 with strong wellbeing practices established. 
The school is set on a large site, with modern state of the art brand new facilities including an innovative open space library. It also offers multiple spaces for whole-staff and small group collaborative planning and professional development. 
Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach infants and primary and approval to teach Library (primary) or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

2. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs in literacy, numeracy and technology.
3. Demonstrated inclusive practice to cater to the needs of all students.
4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents. 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

Special Notes

This is a permanent part-time position of 4 days per week, 0.8FTE (full time equivalent).

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
