Position Information
John Warby Public School has an enrolment of 283 students from Preschool to Year 6, including 26 students in the 4 class Inclusive Education setting (consisting of 1 x IM, 1 x IO/AU and 2 x MC classes) in 2026. 25% of students are from a language background other than English and 22% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school successfully caters for students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and aims to develop the whole child and cater for individual differences, providing programs to support specific needs. The school continues to build on quality teaching, learning and leadership practices, with commitment to improving and sustaining student results in literacy and numeracy. There is a strong focus on student wellbeing practices at the school.
The successful applicant will contribute to building a learning environment underpinned by evidence-based explicit teaching, data-informed practice, and a strong focus on student wellbeing. The Teacher Librarian will lead and manage the school library as a stimulating learning hub, utilising both physical and digital resources and supporting the full K-6 curriculum.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach primary library, or currently undertaking/enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to deliver explicit, innovative teaching and whole-school programs, whilst promoting HPGE (High potential and gifted education), critical thinking and independent learning.
Commitment to supporting a diverse student population and to promoting reading engagement and information literacy in a contemporary school environment.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
This is a permanent part-time position for 3 days per week, 0.6 FTE (full-time equivalent).
